The Population Health Analytics Lab is thrilled to welcome Lori Diemert into the role of Project Manager. Lori attained her MSc. in Health Studies and Gerontology from the University of Waterloo and joins the lab with a breadth of experience in population health research.

Lori previously worked with the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit at the University of Toronto where she managed and coordinated large research studies to evaluate public health policies and programs focused on tobacco and e-cigarette use. This has included developing and coordinating primary data collection for longitudinal and cross-sectional studies, as well as managing qualitative observational studies, focus groups and interviews.

At the Population Health Analytics Lab, we value working with local stakeholders to improve population health, which is why Lori’s experience supporting local Public Health Units and tobacco control stakeholders with their evaluation strategies is an extremely valuable skill. Aside from building capacity at a local level, several other projects Lori managed were used to inform public health initiatives such as smoke-free patio legislation, physician support for smoking cessation, and the evaluation of mass media campaigns.

Joining the Population Health Analytics Lab, Lori is most excited about our work in Population Risk Prediction Tools. Each tool is developed for a particular outcome, including premature mortality, multiple chronic conditions, and high resource use.

“I am excited to see the impact that these tools can have when used by health care decision makers to inform programming and resource needs that can enhance population health” says Lori Diemert.

Welcome to the Population Health Analytics Lab Lori!
