Recipients of the Society for Epidemiologic Research 50th Anniversary Conference career awards, Drs. Laura Rosella, Kenneth Rothman, and Polly Marchbanks

We are proud to announce that the Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER) is bestowing its 2017 Brain MacMahon Early Career Epidemiologist Award on our very own Dr. Laura Rosella! SER awards this prize to epidemiologists who are no more than seven years removed from their terminal degree, yet have made substantial contributions to their field in either research, teaching, mentoring or service.

Since completing her final degree, Dr. Rosella has ascended to assistant professorship at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, become a Research Chair in Population Health Analytics, and authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of public health, public health policy, and health services research.

This award, funded by Harvard University’s School of Public Health, is presented in honour of Dr. Brian MacMahon, who is widely considered the originator of modern epidemiology. His breakthrough publication, Epidemiologic Methods (1960), later became Epidemiology: Principles and Methods, a decades-long standard in the field. Recipient eligibility for this award extends to all epidemiologists, in academia, government or private sector. Dr. Rosella will receive the award during the SER’s annual meeting held June 20-23 in Seattle, Washington.
