The Bill Silverman Prize
Our very own Dr. Rosella, along with David Henry and their co-authors, recently received the Bill Silverman Prize for their paper on the application of a new Cochrane risk of bias tool.
The prize, which has been awarded since 2008, recognizes research that is emphatically three things: original, critical, and focused on best-evidence assessments of the effects of health care interventions.
The Risk of Bias Tool (RoB)
The awarded study concluded that the Cochrane RoB tool highlighted a wide range of risks of bias across studies in two widely cited reviews—enough to change the conclusions of some of the reviews.
They further recommended that all reviews incorporating non-randomized studies of medical interventions should include a detailed assessment of RoB for each included study.
The award was presented at the Cochrane Annual General Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa on September 14th. Congratulations to the recipients!
