The Award

Our very own Todd Norwood was recently awarded The Elaine Hector award at the 2017 APHEO (Association of Public Health Epidemiologists in Ontario) Conference in Guelph, Ontario. The conference, which focused on fostering partnerships and moving data to action in our rapidly changing public health landscape, bestows the Elaine Hector award upon those who embody the memory of Elaine Hector’s passion for knowledge sharing, public health networking, and who demonstrate fruitful engagement with epidemiology in an effort to beneficially shape the future of public health.

Todd’s Research

Todd’s work with Cancer Care Ontario is what the conference planning committee specifically acknowledged with this award. In his position as a staff scientist at Cancer Care Ontario, Todd incorporates environmental and spatial epidemiology, cancer surveillance and research, advanced spatial and statistical analysis methods, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and health equity and demography into his research.
